Tools
Calculators that do the arithmetic, and say what the arithmetic cannot cover.
Every tool here states its limitations
Each of these produces a number, and a number carries an authority that the inputs frequently do not deserve. The percentage calculator cannot know the ratio of cocoa solids to cocoa butter in your bar, because that is not on the label and is what actually determines how it tastes. The limitations are printed next to the result rather than in a footnote, and the data model will not accept a tool that has not declared any.

Chocolate finder
I do not know what chocolate I want. Where do I start?
Narrows eighty chocolate types to a handful, from what you want rather than what you already know the name of — and shows the reasoning for every suggestion.
Chocolate percentage calculator
What does 70% actually mean in terms of what is in the bar?
Works out what is actually in a bar at a given percentage — and shows why two bars at the same number can be very different.
Ganache ratio calculator
How much cream do I need for this much chocolate?
Gives the chocolate and cream quantities for a chosen firmness, adjusted for the type of chocolate.
Hot chocolate calculator
How much chocolate do I need for this much milk?
Scales chocolate or cocoa to a volume of milk for a chosen richness, and distinguishes the two drinks that share the name.
Chocolate scaling calculator
How do I scale this recipe's chocolate up or down?
Scales a chocolate quantity up or down, and flags where scaling does not behave linearly.
Chocolate substitution finder
What can I use instead of the chocolate this recipe wants?
Works out what to use when a recipe calls for a chocolate you do not have, and what else must change as a result.
Pairing selector
What should I drink or eat with this chocolate?
Suggests pairings from a chocolate type or a flavour family, with the basis and the caveat shown alongside each.
Tasting scorecard
How do I record what I taste in a way I can compare later?
A structured record of a tasting — appearance, snap, aroma, flavour development, texture and faults.
